"The cellular wisdom series of books is not a declaration of dogma, but rather is a vehicle for me to share my insights about the teachings of our cells and our bodies about how to thrive in our lives as individuals and in relationship, from intimate to corporate to community to planetary. My books are intended to stimulate you to explore and uncover your own insights."

Cellular Wisdom for Women Offers Women the Tools
for Living the Lives They Want
(March 25, 2009)-In a time when society and technology are moving faster than ever, it's never been so challenging for Americans to stop, breathe, and check their ‘inner pulse.&rsqup; It's also never been more critical for people, especially women, to do just that.
Cellular Wisdom, the by-product of King's own inner journey, is based on her beautifully blended five decades of scientific research and spiritual principles. It is a process and system that allows anyone to review their life and uncover their core values and heart desires. King's work amplifies our best parts as she compares the organic human journey to how the cells operate and support the body very naturally and effortlessly. According to King, cells in the body are genetically coded to do so. King provides a template for an authentic code of living and self-discovery that humanity seeks on some level.
Cellular Wisdom for Women: An Inner Work Book, an innovative guide to self-awareness based on nearly five decades of scientific research and spiritual study by author and teacher Dr. Joan C. King, is already delivering this much needed "time out" for thousands of women around the world. A former professor & department chair at Tufts University School of Medicine for twenty years and Dominican nun for nearly a decade, King uncovered Cellular Wisdom during a year long sabbatical that allowed her to reclaim her life and create a template for generations of women to follow.
"As I was writing Cellular Wisdom for Women, over a year and a half period, I began to view the body and its systems from a completely different perspective-as an inner teacher of how to live," says Cellular Wisdom for WomenTM author/creator King. "Exploring who I was, underneath everything external, allowed me to touch and come to know an inner truth, bigger than anything I had ever known before. That's when my knowing began to reveal a whole new kind of work for me."
According to King, the topics treated are ones that she has seen 'stop women cold' in their personal or professional lives. The book is interactive and helps to guide women along a pathway of learnable skills, linking the science of the body with the personal exploration of a woman's interior knowing. Through stories, contemplations, and exercises, King gently draws women in deeper, toward exploration and self-discovery. Using teachings extracted from an understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of how a woman's body models her very beliefs, Cellular Wisdom for Women: An Inner Work Book is a comprehensive journey toward the authentic, essential self.
King's own life was changed in an instant and forever with the sudden death of her father. She was just ten years old when he died. This great loss set her on a collision course to become a nonstop achiever. Decades later she realized that her drive for success masked the loss of her dad. In pursuit of the next big achievement, she had completely lost her self. This ultimately drove King to integrate her scientific background and knowledge of cells with her commitment to reclaim her own life, then to provide the same to others via her books and seminars in her expanded awareness she coined as Cellular Wisdom.
Fascinated by science, King studied to become a Chemist and later received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience & Psychology from Tulane University. The world of academia loved King and she thrived in the university setting, first as a student and later as a professor, a researcher, and eventually a department chair at Tufts University School of Medicine. What many people would consider a dream career, proved to be a trap for King-keeping her from her true calling.
While on sabbatical from Tufts University in 1997, King took time to ask questions, look deeply within, and find her inner self. She gave herself permission to discover who she was again at a cellular level. Before the end of her sabbatical, she let go of the need to prove herself and began her transition from university life to author, speaker, and entrepreneur.
"My sabbatical was the first time I had stopped in nearly six decades to pause and ask questions like, ‘Who am I underneath all of the accomplishments?’ This is when I finally took the time to be still-to listen," adds King. "Writing courses off the coast of Maine and in Hawaii helped me look deeply within and find my inner self. Slowly I began to uncover memories. As the memories surfaced, so did the pain, but I continued to write. My gift to myself was in the allowing, I gave myself permission to discover who I was again. I no longer had the need to prove myself."
